If you’re a doting parent, there’s a good chance that one of the challenging parts of your day is preparing a hearty breakfast that your kids will enjoy. You need to get up early and come up with a meal that is delicious, healthy, and fun to eat.
Kids need all the energy they can get to face a busy day ahead. But there’s not enough time to cook and get your kids ready for school at the same time. That is why making an impressive breakfast is not an easy as it sounds. So here are three delicious breakfast ideas you can make for your cute little rugrats.
Roll-ups with egg, sausage and cheese
When you’re pressed for time, these yummy pockets make for a hearty breakfast meal your kids won’t get enough of. It only takes 15 minutes to prepare and the time it takes to cook is 35 minutes. You only need to use five ingredients and this is good for eight servings.
1 (8 oz) can of crescent dinner rolls
8 fully cooked sausage links
4 slices of sandwich-sized cheddar cheese
Add salt and pepper to taste
How to make:
Step 1: Heat up your oven to 350 °F. Beat eggs in a bowl. Set aside one tablespoon of beaten egg to brush on the top of crescent rolls. Scramble the rest of the eggs.
Step 2: Unroll the dough and separate into eight triangles. Cut cheese slices in half. Then, place on each triangle. Put a spoonful of scrambled eggs and one sausage link on each. Gently roll up triangles and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Step 3: Brush the beaten egg you set aside on top of each crescent. Then, sprinkle salt and pepper on each one.
Step 4: Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Delicious and easy to cook frittata
This Italian treat is quick and cheap to make. As a bonus, you can incorporate last night’s leftovers for tomorrow’s breakfast. Just make sure you use full-fat dairy, get the right egg-dairy ratio, which is a dozen eggs for every half-cup of dairy, and make sure you don’t overbake it.
1 cup filling
2 tsp. butter or vegetable oil
1/4 cup liquid, such as milk, tomato juice, broth
1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves or any herb of your choosing
Salt and pepper
How to make:
Step 1: Beat eggs along with herbs, liquid, salt and pepper in a bowl until it is fully mixed. Then, add filling and blend it well.
Step 2: Heat up the butter in a nonstick omelet pan or skillet over medium heat until it melts. Pour in the egg mixture. Cook over low to medium heat until eggs are almost set for around 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 3: Remove from heat. Next, cover and let it stand until the eggs are entirely set and no visible liquid egg is retained. Do this for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, cut it into wedges.
Raspberry crumble pancake
If your children like something sweet and tasty to eat first thing in the morning, you can turn a boring pancake into a delightful masterpiece. This meal can serve four people and it is easy to make.
Crunchy, buttery almond crumbs
1 pint raspberries, washed and dried
2 containers of vanilla ice cream
How to make:
Step 1: Cook pancakes per the directions in the box.
Step 2: Top the pancakes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, sprinkle with raspberries and almond crumbs
